How to check a mutual fund distributor's registration

Anyone can sound confident about mutual funds online. Registration is what you can verify. In India, mutual fund distributors are registered with AMFI and carry an ARN. SEBI Registered Investment Advisers are a different licence under a separate framework. Know which one you are dealing with.

AMFI ARN vs SEBI RIA (do not mix the labels)

An AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor helps you choose and transact in mutual funds, with service and paperwork alongside the investment. GTP Fintech Solutions publishes AMFI ARN-368973 so you can verify us on the public register.

A SEBI-registered Investment Adviser (RIA) is a separate registration under SEBI’s regulations. We do not claim SEBI RIA status on this site. If someone says “SEBI registered advisor” while only showing an ARN, ask them to clarify.

How to verify an ARN

Ask for the ARN in writing (website footer, email signature, or onboarding form). Then check it on AMFI’s public distributor / ARN search utilities (amfiindia.com). Confirm the name matches the person or entity you are dealing with, and note whether the registration appears active.

For insurance, ask for licensing details separately offline. Mutual fund ARN does not automatically prove insurance authorisation. We do not publish an insurance agent code on this website.

  • Match legal / trade name to what appears on AMFI records.
  • Prefer advisers who explain engagement terms in conversation before you invest.
  • Be wary of guaranteed return language on market-linked products.
  • Keep folio statements in your own name with the AMC.

Will units be in my name? How often do we review? What happens if I want to stop SIPs or move the folio? How are engagement terms decided? Clear answers matter more than a polished pitch.

Frequently asked questions

Is an ARN the same as SEBI RIA registration?
No. ARN identifies an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor. SEBI RIA is a different registration for investment advisers under SEBI’s framework. Ask which one applies and verify on the right register.
Where can I verify GTP’s ARN?
Use AMFI’s public ARN / distributor search with ARN-368973 and confirm the name matches GTP Fintech Solutions / the onboarding documents you receive. If anything looks off, pause and ask us in writing.
Is the brand name singular or plural?
The canonical brand on this site is GTP Fintech Solutions (plural). Older social captions sometimes used a singular spelling; we keep one form here for NAP consistency.
