Goal based SIP calculator
A goal based SIP calculator works backwards from a target corpus to the monthly instalment you need. Enter the target amount, years, optional step-up and expected return to see the required SIP and the lumpsum alternative.
Default result
To reach ₹1.00 Cr in 15 years, start a SIP of about ₹21,011/month. A one-time ₹18.27 L today would do the same job.

How to use this calculator
- Enter the future target corpus in rupees.
- Set years and an optional yearly step-up.
- Read the required monthly SIP and the lumpsum alternative.
Formula and worked example
The future value of a SIP is linear in the starting instalment for a fixed step-up schedule, so the required amount is the target divided by the future value of a ₹1 SIP run over the same period. The lumpsum figure is the present value of the target: PV = FV / (1 + r)^t.
The exact formula
Required monthly SIP: P = Target ÷ FV(a ₹1 SIP over the same period, step-up and return) FV of the ₹1 SIP uses the step-up simulation above. Lumpsum alternative: PV = Target ÷ (1 + r)ᵗ
Worked example. Target ₹1 Cr · 15 years · 10% step-up · 12% → SIP ₹12,085/mo, or a one-time ₹18.27 L today.

| Target ₹1.00 Cr · 15y · step 10% · 12% | ₹12,085/mo | ₹46.08 L |
| Target ₹1.00 Cr · 20y · step 0% · 12% | ₹10,871/mo | ₹26.09 L |

Assumptions and limits
- The target is a future rupee amount (not inflation-adjusted). For education or a wedding, use the dedicated planners which inflate today’s cost first.
- Return and step-up schedule constant; no missed instalments.
- Target is a future nominal amount unless you inflated it yourself beforehand.
- Return and step-up are held constant for the projection.
- Figures are pre-tax and gross of fund expenses.

SIP goal calculator
A SIP goal calculator starts from the corpus you want and solves backwards for the monthly debit. To reach ₹1 crore in 15 years at 12% with a flat SIP, you need about ₹21,011 per month and will invest roughly ₹37.82 lakh. If the goal is today’s price of a house or course, inflate it first—otherwise the SIP is sized for yesterday’s cost. Keep a second run at a lower return so the mandate still works in a dull decade.
Goal SIP calculator
Goal-based SIPs beat “invest whatever is left” because the debit is tied to a dated outcome. Enter the target, years and return; read the required instalment. The ₹1 crore / 15y / 12% case needs about ₹21,011 monthly. When that number exceeds cash flow, extend the horizon, add a step-up, or cut the target rather than hoping for a higher return. Label the folio with the goal name so the money is not raided for holidays. When household opinions differ on risk for sip goal under “Goal SIP calculator”, fund the more conservative case first and treat any extra debit as optional top-ups.
Target SIP calculator
Target language is common when families fix a round corpus—₹50 lakh education, ₹1 crore retirement bridge, and so on. This tool translates that headline into a monthly number. At the defaults, ₹21,011 monthly funds ₹1 crore in 15 years at 12%. Round the SIP up to a clean banking amount and review yearly when income changes. Do not raise the assumed return just to shrink the debit; that hides risk instead of solving affordability. If the sip goal instalment for “Target SIP calculator” looks unaffordable, cut the target or add years before you inflate the assumed return unrealistically.
SIP calculator goal wise
Running goals separately—education, house down payment, retirement—keeps horizons honest. Each goal gets its own target, years and risk assumption on this calculator. For the sample ₹1 crore in 15 years, the flat SIP is about ₹21,011. Summing every goal’s SIP may exceed income; if so, prioritise timelines under seven years first. Cross-link long goals to the step-up SIP or retirement tools when contributions should climb with salary. After you accept the “SIP calculator goal wise” maths, update nominees and the bank mandate—process gaps undo an otherwise sound sip goal plan.
Reverse SIP calculator: start from the target
Reverse SIP means you begin with the finish line, not the instalment. That is exactly what required-SIP maths does. Plug in ₹1 crore, 15 years and 12% to see about ₹21,011 per month. Reverse planning also exposes impossible goals early—better than discovering a shortfall in year 14. If you already invest, subtract the future value of existing SIPs from the target before solving for the gap. Recalculate the “Reverse SIP calculator: start from the target” path after a job change, new loan or family addition rather than relying on last year’s sip goal screenshot.
SIP goal planner
Treat this page as a planner worksheet: write the goal name, target date, inflated cost and the SIP it implies. The default ₹1 crore example needs roughly ₹21,011 monthly at 12% over 15 years. Add nominees, folio consolidation and a glide path in the final three years as checklist items beside the number. Revisit after job changes; a planner that never updates becomes fiction. Point relatives to a mid-horizon row on the sip goal year-wise table when discussing “SIP goal planner”; a middle checkpoint persuades better than only the final corpus.

Frequently asked questions
Should the target include inflation?
Yes for goods and fees priced in today’s rupees. Inflate the cost first, then solve for the SIP on that future amount.
How does step-up change the required SIP?
A yearly step-up lowers the starting instalment while raising later debits. Use it when income should grow; keep it at 0% if cash flow is flat.
What if I already have investments for this goal?
Estimate their future value at a conservative rate and subtract from the target, then solve for the remaining gap.
Can I split the SIP across multiple funds?
Yes. The calculator sizes the total debit; allocation across funds is a separate portfolio decision.
Why is my required SIP so high?
Short horizons and large targets drive instalments up. Extending years or trimming the goal usually helps more than assuming heroic returns.
Is the target guaranteed if I pay the SIP?
No. Markets can undershoot the return you typed. The SIP is a plan, not a contract with the market.
Does this include taxes on redemption?
No. Size a little higher if you expect material capital-gains tax on the way out.
Can an advisor reuse these inputs?
Yes. Share the inputs and the result screenshot with an AMFI-registered distributor so they can map the maths to products without changing the formula.
