What it means
An iSIP is not a different investment. It is the same SIP, set up through an internet-based route. You pick the scheme, amount and date on a website or app, and authorise the monthly debit through your bank's net banking or an online mandate. No cheque, no branch visit, no signed paper.
iSIP vs a regular SIP
| iSIP | Paper-based SIP | |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | Online | Form and bank documents |
| Authorisation | Net banking / e-mandate | Physical mandate |
| Time to start | Usually quick | Takes longer to process |
| Fund, NAV, tax | Same | Same |
Today almost every new SIP is registered online, so most investors never need the word "iSIP". You will still see it on some AMC and distributor websites and in older articles.

Questions people ask
What is the full form of iSIP?
Internet Systematic Investment Plan.
Is iSIP different from SIP in returns?
No. Returns depend on the scheme, not on how the SIP was registered.
Is iSIP safe?
The payment route is the bank's own authorised mandate. The investment risk is the risk of the scheme.
