How to use this calculator
- Enter the yearly deposit up to the PPF limit.
- Set the notified rate with its as-of date and the tenure.
- Read maturity, interest and the year-wise balance table.
Formula and worked example
Interest is compounded annually. Assuming the deposit is made at the start of each year, F = P × [((1+i)^n − 1) / i] × (1+i), where i is the annual rate and n is the number of years. The rate is assumed constant, though in practice the government revises it quarterly.
The exact formula
M = P × [ ((1+i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i ] × (1 + i) P = yearly deposit i = annual rate n = years
Worked example. ₹1,50,000/yr · 7.1% · 15 years → ₹40,68,209. Matches Groww to the rupee.

Assumptions and limits
- Annual compounding at the notified rate.
- The deposit is made at the start of the financial year (before 5 April) — the standard advice to earn a full year’s interest.
- Rate assumed constant, though the government revises it quarterly.
- PPF is EEE: the deposit qualifies for 80C, and interest and maturity are tax-free.
- Rate used here: 7.1% (illustration, confirm the current notified rate).
- Annual compounding; deposit assumed early in the year for a full year of interest.
- EEE tax treatment depends on rules in force; 15-year base tenure with extensions possible.

PPF maturity calculator
PPF maturity is the familiar question after maxing the yearly limit. Depositing ₹1.5 lakh a year for 15 years at 7.1% grows to about ₹40.68 lakh, with interest near ₹18.18 lakh. Extensions in 5-year blocks can keep compounding if you do not need the money at year 15. Partial withdrawals follow scheme rules—this page shows full-term maturity. Write the ppf inputs you trust into your annual review note so next year’s rerun of “PPF maturity calculator” starts from recorded figures.
PPF interest rate calculator
PPF rates are notified by the government and can change. This calculator lets you type the rate rather than hard-coding forever. At 7.1% with full ₹1.5 lakh yearly deposits for 15 years, maturity is about ₹40.68 lakh. If the notified rate falls, rerun; do not assume today’s rate for decades without a sensitivity check. Interest posts annually under scheme conventions. When household opinions differ on risk for ppf under “PPF interest rate calculator”, fund the more conservative case first and treat any extra debit as optional top-ups.
Using the PPF calculator with Indian rupee inputs
Yearly deposit is capped at ₹1.5 lakh per financial year in the product rules—enter amounts in that range. Rupee outputs show invested capital, interest and maturity. The default path reaches about ₹40.68 lakh. Combine PPF with EPF and ELSS thoughtfully so 80C room is not double-counted in your head. If the ppf instalment for “Using the PPF calculator with Indian rupee inputs” looks unaffordable, cut the target or add years before you inflate the assumed return unrealistically. Confirm the latest Ministry of Finance notification before you treat 7.1% as settled for the full tenure.

Frequently asked questions
Is 7.1% guaranteed for 15 years?
No. It is the illustration rate on this page. The government revises PPF rates periodically—confirm the current notification.
When should I deposit for maximum interest?
Earlier in the financial year generally earns more interest under common PPF posting conventions; this model assumes an early deposit each year.
Can I invest more than ₹1.5 lakh?
Not inside one PPF account for 80C/product limits. Extra savings need other instruments.
Is PPF interest taxable?
PPF is typically EEE under rules in force, but confirm current tax law for your assessment year.
What happens after 15 years?
You can withdraw or extend in blocks. Extensions keep earning at the prevailing notified rate.
PPF vs ELSS?
PPF offers notified-rate debt-like compounding with long lock-in; ELSS is market-linked with a 3-year lock-in and old-regime 80C benefits.
Does this include loans against PPF?
No. Loan and withdrawal rules are separate; maturity shown assumes deposits stay invested.
Can an advisor reuse these inputs?
Yes. Share the inputs and the result screenshot with an AMFI-registered distributor so they can map the maths to products without changing the formula.
