NPS calculator with step-up and annuity
This NPS calculator projects what regular National Pension System-style contributions could grow to by retirement, with an optional yearly step-up. It also sketches an illustrative lumpsum-versus-annuity split at exit.
Default result
Contributing about ₹5,000/month for 25 years with a 5% yearly step-up at 10% could grow to roughly ₹94.15 L. An illustrative exit split is about ₹56.49 L lumpsum-style and ₹37.66 L annuity-style; official NPS exit rules can differ.
Return used here is an illustration you enter, not a notified CRA/PFRDA rate.
Illustrative exit split of ₹94.15 L: about ₹56.49 L as lumpsum-style capital and ₹37.66 L toward annuity-style pension capital. Official NPS exit rules can differ; confirm against current PFRDA rules.

How to use this calculator
- Enter monthly contribution, optional step-up, years to retirement and assumed blended return.
- Add any existing NPS or retirement corpus.
- Read projected corpus and the illustrative 60/40 lumpsum–annuity split at exit.
Formula and worked example
Contributions are projected with the same month-by-month step-up SIP engine used elsewhere on the site (effective monthly rate so (1+i)^12 = 1+r). Existing corpus is grown at the same assumed annual return. Official NPS account values, tier rules, expense ratios and exit annuity requirements will differ.

Assumptions and limits
- Educational projection, not a CRA or PFRDA account statement.
- Blended return is an illustration you enter—not a guaranteed NPS credit rate.
- Exit lumpsum/annuity split follows common planning talk (about 60/40) and is not personalised advice.
- Tax benefits on contribution and withdrawal are not modelled.
Results are illustrations. Actual outcomes depend on markets, interest rates, taxes and charges, none of which are guaranteed.

NPS calculator with step up
NPS contributions often rise with salary, so a step-up matters. From ₹5,000 monthly with a 5% yearly increase for 25 years at a 10% blended assumption, the projection is about ₹94.15 lakh after contributing roughly ₹28.64 lakh. Official NPS lifecycle funds will not track a flat 10% every year—stress-test 8% and 12%. Raise step-up only when take-home pay reliably grows. Write the nps inputs you trust into your annual review note so next year’s rerun of “NPS calculator with step up” starts from recorded figures.
NPS return calculator
NPS return on this page is a single blended rate you type, not Tier-I equity/credit history. The sample finishes near ₹94.15 lakh at 10% over 25 years with step-up. Equity-heavy allocations may justify a higher assumption with higher volatility; pure auto-choice debt years need a lower one. Always separate return assumptions from tax benefits under 80CCD, which this tool does not compute. When household opinions differ on risk for nps under “NPS return calculator”, fund the more conservative case first and treat any extra debit as optional top-ups.
NPS annuity calculator
At exit, a portion of NPS usually buys an annuity. This calculator shows an illustrative 40% annuity-style slice of the projected corpus—about ₹37.66 lakh in the default run—alongside a 60% lumpsum-style slice. Actual annuity quotes depend on age, insurer and prevailing rates. Treat the split as a conversation starter, then confirm current PFRDA exit rules before you retire. If the nps instalment for “NPS annuity calculator” looks unaffordable, cut the target or add years before you inflate the assumed return unrealistically.
NPS pension calculator
Pension language means estimating how contribution habits today become retirement capital tomorrow. The default path builds about ₹94.15 lakh. Converting that into a monthly pension requires an annuity rate this page does not fetch live. Use the corpus first, then shop annuity illustrations closer to retirement. Under-saving in the 30s cannot be fixed by typing a higher blended return in the 50s. After you accept the “NPS pension calculator” maths, update nominees and the bank mandate—process gaps undo an otherwise sound nps plan.
NPS calculator with increasing contribution
Increasing contribution is the step-up field by another name. A rising ₹5,000 debit finishes near ₹94.15 lakh over 25 years at 10% in this illustration, versus a much smaller corpus if the debit never rises. Map increases to appraisal cycles and PRAN contribution standing instructions. If self-employed income is lumpy, keep the base contribution modest and add voluntary top-ups in strong years. Recalculate the “NPS calculator with increasing contribution” path after a job change, new loan or family addition rather than relying on last year’s nps screenshot.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the official NPS calculator?
No. It is an educational projection. Use your CRA login or PFRDA tools for account-specific figures.
What blended return should I enter?
Pick a mix between long-run equity and debt expectations, then test higher and lower. One rosy number is not a plan.
Does this include 80CCD benefits?
No. Contribution deductions depend on your regime and assessment year; model tax separately.
Why show a 60/40 split?
It mirrors common planning talk about lumpsum versus annuity capital. Official exit rules can differ—verify before exit.
Can I add my existing NPS balance?
Yes. Enter it as existing corpus so it grows at the same assumed rate and adds to the total.
Are Tier-I and Tier-II both modelled?
The maths is contribution growth only. Product wrapper, liquidity and tax differ by tier—confirm which account you mean.
What if I change allocation later?
Changing equity/debt mix changes expected return and risk. Rerun with a new blended rate rather than keeping an outdated assumption.
Can an advisor reuse these inputs?
Yes. Share the inputs and the result screenshot with an AMFI-registered distributor so they can map the maths to products without changing the formula.
